Southwell history
Southwell is a Minster town: the Norman Minster with its 'Leaves of Southwell' carvings has been the mother church of Nottinghamshire for nine centuries. The Bramley apple was first grown here in the 1800s, and the Workhouse on Upton Road is the best-preserved in the country.
