Hucknall to East Midlands Airport: the A611 run explained

NG15 sits 35 minutes from EMA down the A611 and A610. Here is the timing, the price picture and how we handle 3am pick-ups in Hucknall and Papplewick.

Hucknall is a 35-minute run to East Midlands Airport on a clear road, and the route matters: the A611 down to the A610 and then either the M1 at junction 26 or straight across the A453. Which one your driver picks depends on the hour, and at 4am it barely matters. At 8am it can be worth 15 minutes.

Timings from NG15

  • Hucknall town centre: 35 minutes.
  • Papplewick and Linby: 38 minutes.
  • Bestwood Village and Rise Park: 32 minutes.
  • Ravenshead and Newstead: 40 minutes.

Between 07:30 and 09:00, junction 26 and the A610 approach both slow down; we add 15 minutes to any weekday morning pick-up in that window.

What time should you leave?

A 06:15 charter to Dalaman means a check-in target of 03:15 and a pick-up around 02:40. That is genuinely early, and it is the correct answer for a peak-season charter with hold bags. For a 09:00 European short-haul with hand luggage only, a 06:20 pick-up is plenty.

The reason for the gap is EMA's security pattern: the 04:00 to 06:30 window is when the holiday flights stack up and queues run 30 to 45 minutes. By 09:00 you are through in ten.

Early pick-ups without waking the street

Most of our NG15 work is between 2am and 5am. The drivers know the etiquette: no horn, no headlights in the front window, a quiet call or text on arrival, and a few minutes of grace while you do the final door check. If you are on a shared drive or in one of the newer estates off Watnall Road, drop the house number in the notes and we will find it first time.
